My Inbox Is My Achilles Heel

I’ve blogged about my struggles with procrastination and my inbox before.

Sometimes I’m pretty good at keeping it clear.

As of this moment, though, it’s overflowing again.

I really need to clear it out and get back to the people who have been waiting so patiently for me to respond, so that’s what I’ll be doing today.

In the meantime, I’d love to know what you’re struggling to improve in your own lives. How is it going for you? What do you do when you encounter a set-back?

At this point? Laundry. We have a lot of it run, but almost none of the recently-cleaned laundry is sorted. I need to set up a folding table and put on a movie, I think.

Blogging vs novel writing. My eternal struggle. It should be simple: schedule myself to write a blog (1 hour block), then follow up with schedule myself to creative write (minimum 1 hour block). Simple, right?

Hardly. My schedule myself to write 1 blog article always gives me ideas for (minimum) 2 more blog articles. While the correlation is fresh in my brain, I should write them, right? le Sigh I usually do. So 1 hour turns into 3 hours, and my window for creative writing has now been sucked dry.

However, when that happens (often), I try to make sure I close my blog and say “Screw it, I’m writing anyway.” Even if I only give myself 15 minutes more. At least I get some creative writing in for that day and I can hold to my creed of ‘Writers Write – No Excuses.’

Of course I always have the small consolation that I DID write that day. It just didn’t exactly go as planned. But -lol- when does it ever?
