Top Ten Tuesday: Bookish Things I Hope Santa Brings

Hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl

wrapped gifts sitting beneath a christmas treeThis week’s topic was Books I Hope Santa Brings, but my TBR list is already so huge that with a few exceptions I’ll make note of below that I’d rather not receive more books from Santa or anyone else this holiday season!

With that being said, there are some bookish items I wouldn’t mind receiving this holiday season.

Uninterrupted Reading Timeย

What could be better than curling into a quiet corner of the house and reading for as long as your heart desires?

Dairy-Free Chocolate/Sweets

Grocery stores and coffee shops are filled with scrumptious holiday sweets at this time of the year.

I always get excited when I read the ingredient list for a new potential treat and realize that it’s safe for my milk allergy!

Caffeine-Free Hot Drinks

I don’t generally eat or drink while reading, but when I do these are the types of things I like to rummage around for in my cupboards. Some stories simply work better when you have something to sip or nibble on while reading them.

If Santa also wants to make my sweets and beverages low-calorie, I’d promise not to give away his secret for accomplishing that.

A Waterproof Case for My iPhone

So I can safely read ebooks while taking a bath, of course!

Warm Reading Socks

My feet grow cold in the winter. They need all of the coziness they can get.

Happy Endings for Protagonistsย

Okay, and maybe some of the antagonists, too, if they truly regret their mistakes.

Audiobooksย

These are the one sort of book I wouldn’t mind receiving over the holidays because I can “read” them while exercising or cleaning my house.

I’ve found that the fantasy and young adult genres works particularly well for me in these scenarios, but I wouldn’t say no to science fiction, biographies, or many other genres as well.

Sequels to Unfinished/Disappointing Seriesย

I don’t want to hurt any author’s feelings by naming specific series here, but there are certain series that really should have been given better (or, in some cases, any) endings. I’d sure love if it they could all be wrapped up properly and respectfully.

  1. Great list Lydia! I would also love some uninterrupted reading time for a couple of days between Christmas and new year.

I hope you get those warm socks, I love snuggling in with a nice hot beverage and some comfy socks. But it’s summer here with us, so now I just find a nice spot in the sun, some sunblock and a hat and or course a great read.

Merry Christmas and here’s my wish list: !0 Books I hope Santa brings

  2. Verushka

I adore this list! Uninterrupted reading time is a must! Also happy endings for protagonists & antagonists!

  3. Love your list! Definitely wouldn’t mind some uninterrupted reading time and happy endings either ๐Ÿ™‚ Oh, and warm reading socks too!

  4. Haha! You threw me at first, saying you didn’t want to receive any more books. But you wisely asked Santa for bookish things that no one else could provide.

As for me, I’ll take anything-books.

  5. These are all great gift ideas! I’m totally with you on dairy-free treats ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. Good thoughts and wishes. I totally understand your wish for dairy free prodcuts. I’m “only” lactose intolerant but that mostly means I can’t have those treats, either.

My wishlist is just books, I’m afraid. ๐Ÿ˜‰ I really loved this week’s subject.

    My TTT.

  7. Great list, Lydia! Oh what I wouldn’t give for uninterrupted reading time! That would be the ultimate gift ๐Ÿ˜ I hope you get some of these things though!!! Happy holidays to you โค๏ธ

  8. Uninterrupted reading time! Yes please.

  9. Since my feet are like blocks of ice at this very moment, the warm socks sound perfect about now! ๐Ÿ™‚

  10. I love your slant on this week’s topic. Yes! I would love all of these bookish gifts as well! Happy Holidays!

  11. This is such an awesome list. I can agree on all of these – although Iโ€™m especially partial to warm socks and hot drinks in the winter! Iโ€™ve only recently gotten into audiobooks and theyโ€™re fabulous for when Iโ€™m driving or doing chores.

  12. Uninterrupted reading time sounds great! I would also like some/better closure on a series or two. One series I’m particularly salty about was never finished due to the publisher. I know the author finished the next book, but because of the publisher it never saw the light of day. Made me so sad. ๐Ÿ™

  13. I love your take on this week’s topic. Honestly, I don’t need more books, either, but I can’t help myself. ๐Ÿ™‚

Happy endings and sequels to wrap things up nicely would be on my list, too.

    Happy holidays!

  14. I love your list! Uninterrupted reading time would be a wonderful gift. And cozy socks are a must!

  15. I love that last one. It’s nice you didn’t name authors, but now I’m curious!

  16. Good luck with the waterproof case! My Otterbox seems to work…I accidentally dropped my phone into the Cahaba River a few weeks back and it’s still ticking. ๐Ÿ˜€

  17. Uninterrupted reading time and happy endings sounds like a wonderful combination! With fuzzy socks and a warm drink – perfection! ๐Ÿ™‚ Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas!

  18. Uninterrupted reading time would be amazing.

  19. I like your creative choices for this week! Santa is magical, he can do anything, including bring uninterrupted reading time!

  20. Great list! I’d love some uninterrupted reading time, too.

  21. I hope Santa brings these for you! Iโ€™m hoping to find lots of chocolate under my tree.

  22. My mom is a big fan of warm socks too. She’s easy to shop for. ๐Ÿ™‚

  23. All of these are such fun, wonderful things to wish for! I hope you get a few of them, particularly some uninterrupted reading time.

  24. Louise @Foxes and Fairy Tales

I love this list! I’d love all these things too ๐Ÿ˜‚

  25. Reading time! We all need more of that, right? And happy endings too. Those are the best. ๐Ÿ™‚

Hope you have a great Christmas!!!!!

  26. I would also love uninterrupted reading time! Soo sorry about the chocolates! My son has a dairy allergy and it’s been tough. I’m really hoping he grows out of it but he has pretty extreme reactions. I hope you have a wonderful holiday.

  27. Aww… This is such a cute list. And I’m totally the same in not needing more books, but I just keep asking for them anyway. My TBR will never extinguish. Also, warm socks is a great gift idea! Who doesn’t love some nice, fuzzy socks?

Hope you get some of your wishlist items, especially the happy endings for characters one. ๐Ÿ˜‰

    Thanks for visiting Shell’s Stories!

  28. I hope you get some of these!

  29. Uninterrupted reading time is an EXCELLENT thing to hope for! Happy holidays ๐Ÿ™‚

  30. These would all be great things to find under the tree! Warm socks are definitely something I love – I bought some fun ones for me and my daughters’ stockings. My daughter-in-law to-be is lactose intolerant. I never realized how much dairy my family eats until she started coming over for dinner! She loves chocolate, too – what are the best dairy-free chocolate treats you’ve found?

    Happy TTT (on a Wednesday)!

    • Thank you! I hope you all enjoy your new socks.

Moo Free and Free2b are both excellent dairy-free chocolate brands. They offer everything from peanut butter cups to chocolate Santas, to fancy bars of chocolate with dried fruit or nuts mixed into them. Enjoy Life is another favourite of mine. They specialize in more traditional chocolate bars that aren’t quite so fancy but still taste really good.

If you live anywhere near Phoenix, some of the health food stores there did have Free2b and a few other great other dairy-free chocolate brands the last time I was there a few years ago. (I have family who live in Arizona).

  31. I love your twist to the topic!! Warm reading socks are always necessary ๐Ÿ˜‚ I love a nice, fuzzy and warm sock. Your last choice hit the nail on the head for me! I have read a series that has still yet to be finished. However, the other day, I did get curious and see if the second book was out and, after a good 6-10 years (I can’t remember off the top of my head) the second installment was published in 2018! I can’t wait to read it but I hope it doesn’t take super long for the final installment to come out!

Great post, as always, Lydia! Merry Christmas and happy holidays to you and yours!

  32. Awwww, I LOVE this list! So much! And I can relate to so many of the things you’re hoping for! ๐Ÿ™‚

  33. What a great list! Uninterrupted reading time is such a good one, haha, I’d love that as well. Happy endings might be nice sometimes, too!

  34. That’s the perfect Christmas wishlist! Socks, socks, one can never have enough of those (esp. the fuzzy ones) in winters. And “Sequels to Unfinished/ Disappointing Series” — Amen to that.

  35. I hope you are able to curl up with a good book in some cozy socks and a warm drink this Christmas weekend.

  36. Warm fluffy socks are a must at Christmas time ๐Ÿ™‚

  37. I wish I would have thought to ask for uninterrupted reading time! I have to wait until everyone is asleep for that to happen. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  38. This is so fun! I love your ‘Happy Endings’ add on. I’m all about those for the good guys. ๐Ÿ™‚

  39. Great list! I hope that the holiday season brought you all of these! ๐Ÿ™‚
