Wednesday Weekly Blogging Challenge: Books I Can’t Wait to Read in 2020

There are plenty of books I’m curious about, but I can think of only one upcoming release that genuinely excites me at this point. (The year is still young, so this will almost certainly change over time!)

The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes by Suzanne Collins book cover. Image on cover is of a gold mocking jay sitting on a branch. There is a target sign behind it.

The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes (Hunger Games Prequel) by Suzanne Collins.

I’m thinking about rereading the Hunger Games trilogy before the prequel comes out in May. Here’s hoping that the prequel is well done and answers everyone’s questions about how Panem was created in the first place.

  1. I’ve never read the Hunger Games books, but I see a lot of copies of the series come in and out of the used book sale. Maybe I should pick it up. Thanks!

  2. I hadn’t heard about this one yet – thanks for sharing! I haven’t read the first trilogy in its entirety yet, but I loved “The Hunger Games.” May have to snag them off my daughter’s bookcase and catch up on what I’ve missed.

    The worst thing about reading other blog posts on this topic is just when I thought I might make a dent in my TBR pile, I find all sorts of new titles to add to it!!! LOL

  3. I’m looking forward to this too… a bit anxiously. Any time an author “messes” with a successful series, I worry about. Hope it’s solid!

  4. Fingers crossed that this is a good prequel! I’m really curious about it, too.

  5. I read the Hunger Games books and enjoyed the movies, not sure I want to revisit though. https://pmprescott.blogspot.com/2020/01/wednesday-challenge-011520.html

  6. Huh, hadn’t heard about this one. Hunger Games was disturbing in a way. Not sure I’m ready to reconnect. Thanks for sharing. Here’s mine. https://www.tenastetler.com/lsrs-wednesdays-blog-challenge-1-15-20-books-i-cant-wait-to-read-in-2020/

  7. I didn’t even know this was coming, I’m so excited for it now! I read The Hunger Games series and loved it. Thanks Lydia!

  8. I hadn’t heard there was going to be a prequel… will need to reread the trilogy and check it out. Thanks for coming by earlier!

  9. Gosh YES this is the book that is making 2020 worth slogging through tbh! I am rereading THG series too, but I always try to at least once a year (sometimes more) but I am reading them aloud with my son, and like, we’re only on CF so who knows if we’ll make it to MJ by the time May rolls around 😂 Hopefully it is awesome for us both!!

  10. I’m really excited for this one. Collins coming back after all that time this will be interesting.

  11. ::sigh::

    I’m going to have to actually read The Hunger Games, aren’t I? Well, fine.

    ::holds out arm::

    Twist my arm. I’ll do it.

    My list is here.

  12. Gah! I forgot to add this to my own list. I LUUUURVED The Hunger Games series and very excited to hear this one is coming out. Ta for the reminder.
