Top Ten Tuesday: Books on My Fall 2026 To-Read List

The text reads, “Top Ten Tuesday. www.thatartsyreadergirl.com.”
Hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl

I am still looking forward to reading all of the books I mentioned for Most Anticipated Books Releasing in the Second Half of 2026, and now these autumn titles can be added to the list as well.  The first two have already been released.

Here’s hoping all of you have found some real gems, too!

Book cover for The Birthing Tree by Amanda Peters. Image on cover shows a drawing of a tree with many gnarled branches and some gnarled roots that are sticking up out of the soil.

1.The Birthing Tree by Amanda Peters

Thank you to Pam @ Read Bake Create for alerting me to this title.

Why I’m Interested: My mother used a midwife for her first two births. I like stories about this topic.

Book cover for Hollywood, Ending by John Green. Image on cover shows the colours green, pink, orange, yellow, and blue painted in the shape of a rainbow in a repetitious manner. It’s pretty.

2.  Hollywood, Ending by John Green

Why I’m Interested: Honestly, being famous sounds tiring. I’m especially interested in how such a thing affects people’s romantic lives as I can’t imagine it makes it easy to date or to stay married.

Book cover for As You Wake, Break the Shell by Becky Chambers. Image on cover shows a purple planet hovering about our own green Earth. They otherwise look fairly similar as far as continents and size go. This image is shown from outer space so that both planets can be seen in full effect.

3. As You Wake, Break the Shell by Becky Chambers

Publication Date: October 13

Why I’m Interested: Ms. Chambers is on my list of must-read authors. This sci-fi romance duology sounds lovely!

  2. I hope you enjoy these books. I’m highly looking forward to reading Hollywood, Ending. John Green will forever be one of my favorite authors.

  3. I often wonder about celebrity dating, too — how much is real and how much is a deliberate attempt at managing PR?

  4. I have had The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet on my Kindle forever and still haven’t read it. One of these days, I should.

Here is our Top Ten Tuesday. Thank you!

  5. Until a few weeks ago, I didn’t know John Green was releasing something new. Seems as if I may need to read a bit more about this one! 🙂 Thanks for sharing and for visiting my list; hope you enjoy these all.

  6. I started If You Wake, Break the Shell in ARC, but I was too slow and lost access, gah. I’m eager for that one too!

  7. Hmm, I didn’t even think about looking back at my most anticipated books for this quarter, LOL! I hope you enjoy these when you get a chance to read them.

  12. The Birthing Tree sounds interersting. I have enjoyed the John Green books I’ve read to date, so that one is a good maybe.

  14. Happy reading with these and wise to just add what you really have a hope of reading.

  15. I’m glad I could put a book on your radar that piqued your interest. I hope you enjoy reading it.

Thanks for stopping by my blog earlier.

  16. I’m also looking forward to Hollywood, Ending. John Green was one of my favorite authors when I was younger, so I’m excited to read an adult book from him!

  17. Yay, for Becky Chambers!! I also want to read the John Green book!

  18. I loved The Berry Pickers so I will definitely be reading The Birthing Tree.

  19. I admire you for not feeling the need to add another ten books to your fall reading plans after posting most anticipated releases for second half of 2026! I borrowed a little more than half from my most anticipated releases, and still ended up with 11 instead of 10. haha

  20. Becky Chambers is an author I’d like to try! Hope you enjoy all on your fall TBR!

  21. Our niece is married to a famous baseball player, and it looks exhausting to me. Plus, think of all the time you’d have to spend watching baseball. Nope!

  22. Great additions!
    Thanks for sharing your #TTT

  23. I’m definitely looking forward to more from Becky Chambers and John Green.

  24. Veros @ Dark Shelf of Wonders

I’m also looking forward to Becky Chambers’ new book! I hope you enjoy your first foray into her books!

  25. My three pregnancies were all high-risk (we adopted our fourth), so there was no chance of me giving birth anywhere but in a hospital with advanced technology readily available, BUT I’m also fascinated by midwivery. I enjoy reading about it, too. I’ll have to check out THE BIRTHING TREE. I hope you enjoy all these!

    Happy TTT (on a Wednesday)!

    • I’m glad you had such good medical care, Susan. Pregnancy and birth can be so dangerous for everyone involved.

A home birth or out of hospital birth isn’t something I’d ever choose for myself either. I simply like reading about them on occasion. 🙂

  26. I probably would have put Hollywood, Ending on my list but there are so many people in front of me on the hold list that I have no idea when I’ll get to read it!

  27. I want to read Hollywood, Ending too. I hope it’s good.

  28. These three books all sound intriguing!

  29. I’m really looking forward to Chambers’ newest! I’ve seen that book on a lot of lists this week.

  30. I’m on the list at the library for The Birthing Tree. I really enjoyed her debut book, The Berry Pickers. I hope you enjoy these autumn/fall books on your TBR, Lydia.

  31. Happy autumn/fall reading! 🎃🍂🧡

  32. Hollywood, Ending by John Green caught my attention, too! I’m probably going to pick up an audiobook copy eventually.
