Here is this week’s list of blog posts, videos, charts and other tidbits from my favourite corners of the web.

Aiming for Flow. If only finding your flow was as easy as creating a chart about it!

From The Importance of Manners:

You have the right to expect polite behavior from my child.  On that same note you have the right to expect polite behavior from me, and my husband, and your next door neighbor, and the guy with the weird emo haircut at the grocery store.  And we all have the right to expect the same from you.

Why Failure is Not Fatal. A long but excellent article on why and how failure can be a good thing. It includes multiple TED talks on the subject so feel free to only watch the ones you’re really interested in.

Wake-Up Call: Write Your Own Obituary. When I first began reading this I found the idea morbid. Writing your own obituary seemed bizarre- who are we to decide how those we wil one day leave behind remember us? There is something to be said for periodically looking at the big picture and figuring out if what we do is still in harmony with what we value and believe.

Our Therapy Dog. This made me smile.

What have you been reading?

  1. It warms my heart that you liked my blog rant enough to include it in your suggestion Saturday.  🙂

I just read a thing a few days ago about writing your own epitaph from one of my favorite bloggers, ironic you were reading about essentially the same thing but elsewhere.  How’s yours going?  What do you think you’ll leave or are trying to leave behind?

    • You’re welcome, Jenna!

I haven’t been able to write mine yet. So much of what I want to be known for hasn’t happened yet.  I’ll keep working on it, though.

      Have you written yours?

    • Ok, I’ve thought about it some more.

I hope the short stories I’ve been writing are eventually loved by someone.

I hope I’m remembered as a good friend and loving family member.

Other than that it’s so hard to say!

that’s a great blog about Simon Lev.  interesting stuff.

I continue to read “pride and prejudice”.  I can’t decide if I hate it or love it.  so much to dislike, but so odd how the women are like children …. it’s like staring at a tragedy – I can’t look away.  😉

    • It is a good blog. They don’t update it that often but the posts that do show up have such cute stories about their son.

And that is exactly why I’ve never been able to get past the first chapter of that book. I know it’s how women were treated (and in some cultures still are) but it was too irritating and sad for me to finish.
