Top Ten Tuesday: Books I’d Like to Re-Read

Hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl

Thank you to Becky @ Becky’s Book Blog for submitting this theme.

A deciduous tree - possibly a maple tree - that’s growing next to a pond. This photo was taken at twilight or just after sunrise when part of the sky is dark but there is light at the horizon. The pond water is perfectly still and so you can see a perfect reflection of the tree in the water. Here are some books I hope to reread someday:

1. The Hobbit, or There and Back Again by J.R.R. Tolkien

2. The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank

3. The Giver (The Giver, #1) by Lois Lowry

4. Becoming by Michelle Obama

5. The Pillars of the Earth (Kingsbridge, #1) by Ken Follett

6. Watership Down (Watership Down, #1) by Richard Adams

7. The Shining (The Shining, #1) by Stephen King

8. On Earth We’re Briefly Gorgeous by Ocean Vuong

9. A Psalm for the Wild-Built (Monk & Robot, #1) by Becky Chambers

10. The Magician’s Nephew (Chronicles of Narnia, #6) by C.S. Lewis

It’s a fun assortment of genres and themes. How about all of you?

  1. I’s like to reread the books I’ve read by Lewis. I think it was three of the Narnia books and at this point (that was long ago), reading the rest may require rereads of those three I did read. 🙂 Hope you enjoy these all!

  2. I have reread The Hobbit; The Giver; and Watership Down, all for book club, and I’ve also reread the Monk & Robot book. I hope to read the Ocean Vuong book soon.

  3. Watership Down! Yay!! My favorite.

  4. The only book in this list I’ve read was The Giver. I hope you get the chance to reread these books.

    Hmm. Well, all of these are books I’ve already read multiple times, and will surely want to re-read again in the future. I’ve sorted them by publication date, because why not.

    * Luxorian’s Crew by Veo Corva (2024)
    * Paladins Hope by T. Kingfisher (2021)
    * Small Blessings by Danie Stirling (2021)
    * The Sharing Knife by Lois McMaster Bujold (2006)
    * Fruits Basket by Natsuki Takaya (1998-2006)
    * God Stalk by P.C. Hodgell (1983)
    * Pride of Chanur by C.J. Cherryh. (1982)
    * The Riddle Master of Hed by Patricia McKillip (1980)
    * The Last Unicorn by Peter S. Beagle (1968)

  6. I just so happen to be listening to Kenneth Branagh read THE MAGICIANS NEPHEW at the moment. He’s quite good.

  7. The Giver would be a good one to reread. And I still need to read The Magician’s Nephew. It’s the only Narnia book that I haven’t read. Fun list. 😀

  8. Awesome list, Lydia! I was just thinking the other day about re-reading The Hobbit. I would love to re-read it with the audiobook this time and maybe I might love it more 🙂 The Pillars of the Earth is another great pick! I hope you enjoy all of these on re-read whenever you get to them.

  9. It has been decades since I’ve read the Narnia books. I think they would make for a really great re-read. The Hobbit would be another good one. Great choices!

  10. This is a wonderful and ambitious list!

  11. The Magician’s Nephew was one of my favourite Narnia books. It creeped me out as a kid!

  12. The Magician’s Nephew is one of my fave Narnia books (the other being The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe)

  13. I keep hearing so many good things about Becky Chambers.

  14. I haven’t read any of these, but I do want to read Becoming by Michelle Obama or maybe get the audio of it.

  15. Hope you’ll love all of these just as much (or more) upon re-read!

  16. Diary of Anne Frank is a good reread. I read it a few times as a teen
    and would like to revisit it myself. So powerful.

    I also want to reread Pillars of the Earth–Ken Follett is a favorite author of mine.
    I would like to read The Giver for the first time. I have heard such good things about it.

  17. I love all the Chronicles of Narnia. I totally forgot about those! Great choice. I also loved The Pillars of the Earth.

  18. There’s some great choices on here! I re-read Psalm by Chambers this year and it was just as good. I loved Becoming and I would love to re-listen to it. It might just make me so sad because we had that … and now we have .. what we have. lol Diary of Anne Frank is on my list to re-read too!

  19. I remember enjoying The Diary of Anne Frank, but I wonder what my thoughts would be now…I may have to revisit! Thanks for the inspiration.

  20. What a great list! I loved On Earth We’re Briefly Gorgeous and the Becky Chambers book, and I really need to read Watership Down soon!

  21. I just saw a list of Stephen King’s ten favorite books and Watership Down is on it. I haven’t thought much of the book since I read it in the 1970s/80s. Clearly I need to reread it, too.

  22. Believe it or not, I haven’t read any of these. I hope you get the opportunity to reread these favorites of yours.

  24. I really want to read The Pillars of the Earth for the first time!

  25. I still haven’t read Pillars of the Earth yet!

    I have reread The Hobbit a couple of times but never managed to finish any of the Lord of the Rings books despite trying a couple of times.

  26. Nice list, Lydia. I’ve never read the Narnia books, but they were some of my mother-in-law’s favorites. The Diary of Young Girl is one I should read again. Thanks for sharing and for visiting my blog today.

  27. I want to reread the Monk & Robot books, too! Though of course I’d want more books in the series, too. Ah well. Maybe someday.

  28. I read five of your books and would certainly love to re-read some of them, especially Becoming. The Pillars of the Earth is also a great book and a wonderful introduction to a fantastic series.

  31. I’ve had my copy of Diary of a Young Girl since I was in middle school. It’s one of the most defining reads of my childhood. Hope you get a chance to pick it up again.
