Hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl
The first book on this list is one has already been released, and I’ve included publication dates for the rest.
1. They Bloom at Night by Trang Thanh Tran
Why I’m Interested: Water is an underused trope in the horror genre. Frightening things can happen in it if you’re unlucky or not careful!
2. Terrestrial History by Joe Mungo Reed
Release Date: April 8
Why I’m Interested: While I’d never want to live on Mars personally, I love reading books about how humanity might be able to survive there one day.
3. One Way Witch by Nnedi Okorafor
Release Date: April 29
Why I’m Interested: Ms. Okorafor is on my short list of authors whose new works I always check out (eventually), but I do need to read the first book of this series before diving into this one.
4. The Staircase in the Woods by Chuck Wendig
Release Date: April 29
Why I’m Interested: Today I’d like to confess to the Top Ten Tuesday community that I have started reading all of Wendig’s old books but always stopped reading them at some point because they were too scary for me. Will this book be the one of his I actually finish? Only time will tell. He’s a great storyteller from the bits I have read.
5. The Road to Tender Hearts by Annie Hartnett
Release Date: April 29
Why I’m Interested: Road trips are so much fun to read about.
6. My Friends by Fredrik Backman
Release Date: May 6
Why I’m Interested: Mr. Backman is one of those authors I keep meaning to read. His stories always sound so interesting, but none of them have made it off my TBR list yet. Maybe this one will?
Ooh! I haven’t actually heard of that Backman.
Hope you like it!
Terrestrial History sounds really interesting! I’ll keep an eye out for that one.
Thanks! Enjoy.
I’ve heard good things about Bloom,.hope you enjoy these!! Thanks for dropping by my post!
You’re welcome. Happy reading.
I love the water: Lakes, rivers, oceans, swimming pools. Yet I have an intense dislike of water in my face and one of my greatest fears is drowning. Go figure. Just the cover of They Bloom at Night was a big nope from me! I hope you get a chance to read it and enjoy it, though.
Thank you. And I get that.
I feel like I see lots of readers praising the books of Fredrik Backman, but I haven’t ever read any. Maybe I need to and see why they’re so well loved. I’m also not a fan of scary reads, so I’m guessing the books of Chuck Wendig wouldn’t suit me. 😉 Thanks so much for visiting my list today!
You’re welcome, Rissi. No, I wouldn’t expect you to ever read Wendig’s books. haha.
I also keep meaning to read Fredrik Backman. Hope you’ll love all of these!
Thank you.
I enjoy reading road trip books as well. I hope you enjoy the ones you get to.
Great list. I am the same with Backman. Have his books. Haven’t read them yet. No longer can read Wending or King. Real life is scary enough. The Road to Tender Hearts sounds good. Hope you get to read these soon, Lydia.
Thank you. And, yes, real life is full of scary things for sure!
This is a great topic since, with my sporadic blogging, I’m way behind on what’s coming out. I’ll probably get a mini TBR out of this weeks’ posts lol. Anyway… I agree about They Bloom. And Terrestria History- same. I’ve always been fascinated by the idea.
Thank you, Greg! It’s nice to see you around again.
Hope you’ll enjoy them when you get to these!
Thanks. 🙂
The Road to Tender Hearts looks great fun!
Thanks. 🙂
I hope you enjoy reading all of these in the coming months.

Thank you!
I’ve had my eye on My Friends for such a long time. I don’t know why I haven’t read it yet because Fredrik Backman is one of my favorite authors. I hope you enjoy these books! Happy Tuesday!
Thank you. Happy reading!
Fredrik Backman is probably my favorite author! My sister and her husband preordered My Friends for me for Christmas. I hope you get around to reading it!
Oh, cool! Thanks.
Good stuff! Tender Hearts just went straight to my TBR–I also love road trip books. The Backman is already on my list.
Awesome! Happy reading.
I haven’t heard of these books, but they do sound good. I hope you enjoy them when you get a chance to read them.
Thank you.
They Bloom at Night looks scary, and The Staircase in the Woods is one I now want to read, too. 😀
Cool!
Okorafor’s books are great, aren’t they? I still have a bunch I need to catch up on, but her books go straight to my TBR list, also.
Yes, they sure are. I’m quite behind as well, though. 🙂
Ooh yes to the new Backman! I don’t think I’ll get to that one in autumn but it’ll be first on my winter TBR!
Cool!
Love seeing Backman on here!! The Road to Tender Hearts sounds good. I hope you get to all of these.
Thank you.
A nice eclectic list! I keep meaning to read Backman, too, but I haven’t managed it yet.
Hello Lydia, I hope you enjoy your spring reading! 🌼 Here is my spring TBR: 📚 10 Books on My Spring 2025 To-Read List (Top Ten Tuesday) |
Blessings, Jessica 💌
Nice!
I’ve loved the two books I’ve read by Backman so far. I definitely need to read more by him. I hope you enjoy all these!
Happy TTT (on a Wednesday)!

Thank you. Happy TTT!
I’d love to read the Backman book! I’ve really enjoyed his recent books, and this one sounds terrific!
Nice.
I’m eyeing They Bloom at Night for my wife! I’m not a big horror reader myself, but I try to pick out a good selection each year for Christmas presents. I’ll be interested to see what you think!
Thanks. I’ll blog about it if I like it. I’m on the library waitlist now. Hope your wife likes it!
They Bloom at Night has such a gorgeous cover. Hopefully it isn’t *too* scary so I’ll be able to read it, since I’m a wimp when it comes to horror.
Thank you. I’ll let you know once my library copy arrives!
A nice mix of books Lydia. I hope we both love My Friends.
Thank you. Fingers crossed!
They Bloom At Night looks amazing! I hope you’ll love all these books when you read them 🙂

Thank you. 🙂
I have the same curiosity about Fredrik Backman’s books. I hear so many good things about them but I haven’t read a single one yet. Maybe one of these days!
May you enjoy them if or when you read them! I’m glad I’m not alone.
I avoid scary reads so maybe Wendig is not for me 🙂 but I do have Backman’s Friends on my TBR (not this current TTT though)
Hope you like it. 🙂
Weirdly, since I don’t know if I would commit to reading it, I can instantly see The Road to Tender Hearts making a great movie, starring any one of a number of very famous/popular older actors.
I would actually read The Staircase In The Woods, that looks right up my horror fiction alley.
Yes, absolutely!
I hope you like The Staircase in the Woods.
Hope you get to enjoy these books! Happy spring reading!
Thank you. 🙂
Can’t wait to read They Bloom at Night. I loved the author’s debut. Happy reading!
Woohoo! Happy reading to you as well.
