I’ve read the first eight of these, and the rest are still on my TBR list. Snowy settings can be so interesting to read about, although I only enjoy heavy snowfalls in real life when I can stay home and don’t have to shovel snow or drive in it.
(Making snow people can be fun, though!)
1. The Snow Child by Eowyn Ivey
2. A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens
3. Little Women (Little Women, #1) by Louisa May Alcott (some scenes were quite snowy, but not all of them).
4. The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (Chronicles of Narnia, #1) by C.S. Lewis
5. The Long Winter (Little House, #6) by Laura Ingalls Wilder
6. White Fang by Jack London
7. The Snow Queen by Hans Christian Andersen
8. Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening by Robert Frost
9. Snow Falling on Cedars by David Guterson
10. Northern Lights (His Dark Materials, #1) by Philip Pullman
11. Snow Country by Yasunari Kawabata
12. The Bear and the Nightingale (The Winternight Trilogy, #1) by Katherine Arden
I’ve not read the Little Women novel, but based on all the adaptations, there are lots of snowy scenes. 🙂 I should have added Narnia to my list today, too!
Yes, there sure are!
We both did Lion, Witch, and Wardrobe! On a side note, it’s weird/funny to see an author named Eowyn.
🙂
We have a lot of overlap on our lists!
Isn’t it lovely? 🙂
Lots of love for The Bear and the Nightingale today!
There sure has been.
Fab selection!
Thank you.
Snow Falling on Cedars and The Bear and the Nightingale are on my TBR as well. I haven’t heard a lot of people talk about the former but I’ve heard amazing things about the latter. I hope you enjoy the ones you haven’t read yet 🙂
Thank you. Did my comment come through on your blog? I’ve been having trouble with some WordPress blogs that ask me to log in again even though I am already logged in and then never display my comments.
Your list is like the best of the classics for snow ❤️💚❤️
“I only enjoy heavy snowfalls in real life when I can stay home and don’t have to shovel snow or drive in it.” — AMEN!
Thank you, Rebecca. I’m glad you get it.
These look good. I love A Christmas Carol.
I love the snow as long as I don’t need to be anywhere …
Have a great week!

Yes, exactly!
The Frost poem is a wonderful and creative addition to your collection! The author’s name is perfection! ❄️
Thank you.
Nice picks. I read White Fang so long ago. I think when I was a teenager. Have a great week. Here is my TTT.
Thank you.

🙂
I feel the same way about snow in real life, but it can be fun to read about for sure 🙂
Exactly!
These look great. I really want to read the Little House books. I’ve seen them on many blogger lists lately.
Yes, there have been tons of mentions of them today!
I’ve seen Narnia, The Bear and the Nightingale, and Snow Child on several lists today!
Same here. 🙂
Snow is always better when you don’t have to be out in it!

Absolutely.
Great choices! I almost did The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe!
Thank you and how cool.
Nice!
I can’t believ I haven’t read Snow Country yet!
I did something a bit different: https://wordsandpeace.com/2025/12/09/top-ten-books-for-a-2025-christmas-song-tag/
Good post, Emma. I hope you like Snow Country.
So many great books here. Thanks for sharing.
You’re welcome.
The Snow Child has been on my TBR for the longest time.
It’s a good story and I hope you like it.
The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe is a great pick! So is The Bear and the Nightingale from what I’ve heard, though I haven’t read it yet either.
I am very rarely in a place where it’s snowing, but I feel the same way about heavy rain. I love watching it… from indoors, when I don’t have to go anywhere (and my family is all safely inside too).
Heh, I’m glad you get it. Have my comments on your posts been getting through, by the way? I’m having trouble with some WordPress blogs that want me to log in again even though I’m already logged in.
Great list, we’ve got three in common.
Very cool!
Lydia, you have lots of wonderful classics and some books that are new to me. Thanks for sharing these and for visiting my blog today.
You’re quite welcome. Thanks for stopping by.
I’ve read several of these. Great choices!
Thank you.
Nice. I’ve read six of your books and three of them are also on my list. It’s always nice to find new books but sometimes it’s even nicer to find a like-minded blogger.

I totally agree with you there. I think you’re great, too.
Great list! I just read Little Women not too long ago for the first time and loved it! Happy Wednesday!
Glad to hear it.
Robert Frost!! Thank you for including that–how did I forget it??? I love that poem.
Such a good poem. 🙂
Hello Lydia, I also have A Christmas Carol, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, and Northern Lights on my list. I would really like to read The Snow Child and The Bear and the Nightingale.
Blessings, Jessica 💌
Very cool! I hope you like those last two titles.
I forgot about the Snow Queen. Great list.
Thank you.
Great list, we have Little Women in common. I enjoy the snowfall when I can stay home too.
Glad to hear it!
