Top Ten Tuesday: Books Set During Thanksgiving

Hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl

A cornucopia set on it’s side and filled with pumpkins, squash, cabbage, potatoes, garlic, onions, and other late autumn vegetables. They are so many books out there set during Christmas that I continue to be surprised by how much less common it is to find books set during Thanksgiving. Let’s see how many of them I can find!

1. Over the River and Through the Wood by Lydia Maria Francis Child

2. Southern Fried Murder: A Thanksgiving Novella (Holiday Shorts Book 5) by Necole Ryse

3. The Diva Runs Out of Thyme (A Domestic Diva Mystery, #1)  by Krista Davis

4. A Zombie Thanksgiving by Anthony Renfro

5. A Great and Godly Adventure: The Pilgrims and the Myth of the First Thanksgiving by Godfrey Hodgson

6. It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown by Charles M. Schulz

7. A Halloween Happening by Adrienne Adams

8. A Match Made for Thanksgiving (Holidays with the Wongs, #1) by Jackie Lau

9. Vegan Thanksgiving Dinner and Pies: All of your Thanksgiving dinner and dessert classics made vegan!
by Audrey Dunham

10. How to Bake the Perfect Pecan Pie by Gina Henning

Which holidays do you wish had more books written about them?

  1. It’s amazing that you were able to find so many books that are set during Thanksgiving.

  2. I’m impressed that you found so many. I can’t think of a book set during Thanksgiving that I’ve read.

  3. Chris @ Biblio Nerd Reflections

This is such a great topic. I don’t think I’ve ever read a book set during Thanksgiving.

  4. Great list. Here is my post-https://paigesofnovels.com/2023/11/28/top-ten-tuesday-fantasy-settings/

A Match Made for Thanksgiving looks fun! I like that you included a cookbook too.

  6. What an excellent topic! And yay for great Pumpkin!!

  7. A Zombie Thanksgiving sounds original and fun. I didn’t know there were so many books set on Thanksgiving.

  8. I agree, there do need to be more books written around Thanksgiving…usually they are lumped with Christmas. I think it would be neat to read some books set around St. Patrick’s Day.

  9. Such a great and unique topic! A Match Made for Thanksgiving is on my tbr!

  10. Wow! You found a lot of Thanksgiving books. I can only think of a couple of others.

  11. I love the sound of those food-themed mysteries!

  12. Fun list. I just read/reviewed Thanksgiving by Janet Evanovich. Last year it was Thanksgiving by Ellen Cooney. Maybe Diva Runs Out of Thyme next year? Lol

  13. Fun list! I do appreciate how cozy mystery series will often set books around each of the holidays, and not just the usual Christmas or Halloween books. My favorites are the books set during a holiday that I don’t know much about. It’s neat to get to experience other cultures that way.

  16. Thanksgiving is one of the forgotten holidays. Great job finding so many.

  17. The Charlie Brown one is the only one I can even think of that I’ve read that has anything to do with Thanksgiving. It is weird that there are so few, isn’t it?

    Happy TTT!

  18. I’ve got to go check out A Zombie Thanksgiving! What a fun list. 😀

  19. A Zombie Thanksgiving sounds like a must read for me!

  20. Athena @ oner

That’s fun, I wouldn’t have guessed there are so many Thanksgiving books! Thanks for dropping by my list!

  21. Wow, I’m surprised you found that many books that were set during Thanksgiving, and I love that you always go for these unique prompt choices.

  22. Emily @ Budget Tales Book Blog

A great list of books! I have never read a book with Thanksgiving in 😱 .

    Have a great week!

  23. What a perfect topic for Thanksgiving week! Love the variety of books. 🙂

  24. Here in Italy we don’t celebrate Thanksgiving of course, so I suppose we cannot find these books here, but I know well the Charlie Brown one (If I don’t go wrong it is also a lovely animation movie?). I am going to check the vegan recipes book too. I am vegan and it would be great to see some different recipes from the usual! Thank you for your suggestions! Noah

    • I’ve only lived in countries that celebrated Thanksgiving. It’s interesting how many do not!

And, yes, the Charlie Brown one is an animated film, too. 🙂

  25. It really is silly how few Thanksgiving romance books there are – with the random amount of KU books I download, you think I would have read one at some point. I feel like there would be a huge market for that since most people love Fall!

  26. This is so fun! We don’t celebrate Thanksgiving in South Africa, although I’ve attended a few expats’ celebrations in the past.

  27. Southern Fried Murder is a fun title 🤭 I’ve just read my first Jackie Lau the other week and I hope to check out more of her books soon. Will keep this one on my radar. Great list!

  28. I love The Great Pumpkin! One of my favorites.

  29. Interesting setting. You’ve found quite a bit.

  30. Belated visit back — sorry, busy week! 😅 An interesting choice of theme — I guess I’d have expected a lot of Thanksgiving books too. Maybe because Thanksgiving isn’t as universal? Like, Christmas is quite similar between the UK and the US, and similar enough across a lot of Europe… but Thanksgiving is just USian. Hmm!

    • No worries there! This is a busy time of year.

We have Thanksgiving here in Canada, too, but a lot of countries don’t have it. I find that super interesting. 🙂

  31. You’re right, a Thanksgiving setting is much less common. I did just read Penelope in Retrograde which is set over Thanksgiving. Lots of family drama. 🙂

  32. Vidya

All new books for me, except the Charlie Brown one.. :
    thanks for visiting me..
    My post is here

  33. I wish more books were set at Thanksgiving! It’s my fav holiday!
