If only you all knew how hard it was to narrow this down to only ten books!
Did anyone else have that same trouble?
There are so many amazing titles coming in the second half of 2020.
To Sleep in a Sea of Stars by Christopher Paolini
Release Date: September 15
Why I’m Excited for It: One word – xenobiologist. I dream of the day humans discover life on other planets.
Vampires Never Get Old: Tales with Fresh Bite by Zoraida Córdova, Natalie C. Parker, Samira Ahmed, Dhonielle Clayton, Tessa Gratton, Heidi Heilig, Julie Murphy, Mark Oshiro, and more. (september 22)
Release Date: September 22
Why I’m Excited for It: Vampires are wonderfully frightening.
Vampires of Portlandia by Jason Tanamor
Release Date: September 29
Why I’m Excited for It: The only thing scarier than living with vampires is doing so in an area that often doesn’t have much sunlight with which to chase them away!
Gathering Blossoms Under Fire: The Journals of Alice Walker by Alice Walker
Release Date: October 1
Why I’m Excited for It: I’ve been a fan of Ms. Walker’s writing for years and am quite curious to learn more about her personal life.
Cinders and Sparrows by Stefan Bachmann
Release Date: October 13
Why I’m Excited for It: What’s not to love about inheriting a castle and all of the magical things inside of it?
Instant Karma by Marissa Meyer
Release Date: November 3
Why I’m Excited for It: I, too, have daydreamed of what it would be like to have the ability to give people their karma right away. (Lest I frighten anyone, it’s mostly in the sense of rewarding strangers for their acts of kindness both big and small).
Dearly: New Poems by Margaret Atwood
Release Date: November 10
Why I’m Excited for It: It’s always cool to see what Ms. Atwood comes up with next.
Nimiety by A.A. Spears
Release Date: November 20 (tentatively)
Why I’m Excited for It: I don’t know if I’m excited for it yet since the blurb hasn’t even been released, but I am quite intrigued by the broken ferris wheel on the cover as well as the dictionary definition of nimiety (“the state of being too much,” if you’re curious).
Link by Link: A Spirited Holiday Anthology by M. Dalto, Pam Dunn, Myra Fiacco, Marlena Frank, Kristin Jacques, C. Vonzale Lewis, Jess Moore, and Candace Robinson.
Release Date: December 1
Why I’m Excited for It: Three words – Christmas ghost stories.
True Names: Four Generations of My Afro Appalachian Family by Malaika Adero
Release Date: December 1
Why I’m Excited for It: I had no idea there were African-American families who lived in Appalachia. I look forward to learning more about what that experience was like for this family.
So many great books that I hadn’t heard of. Alice Walker, one of my all-time favourite authors, didn’t know she’d written a new one, Margaret Atwood, also a great author. And “True Names” by Malaika Adero sounds like a book for me. Will have to add that to my wishlist. Sigh.
Thanks for visiting my TTT earlier. I fixed the link in the meantime.
You’re welcome. Glad you fixed your link! I hope you enjoy all of the books on my list that caught your eye.
Whoa. What a great list. I just know that Margaret Atwood has a poem book. It’s interesting.
Heh, thanks!
These all look like great reads! I’ll have to put together my own summer TBR pile. I didn’t know Margaret Atwood had a poetry book. I’ll have to check it out! Thanks for the list!
Thank you. Hope you enjoy Atwood’s new poetry book.
Vampires of Portlandia sounds SO COOL. I also hadn’t heard of it before, so thanks for the rec!
-Lauren
Enjoy! You’re welcome.
Omg that cover for To Sleep In A Sea of Stars is GORGEOUS 😍 That’s definitely going onto my TBR and don’t know how it hasn’t already been added on before this! Lol great list! I hope you enjoy all of these 🙂
Thank you, Dini. Hope you like To Sleep in a Sea of Stars. And, yes, it does have a gorgeous cover.
My son will be thrilled that Christopher Paolini has a new book on the way!!
Cool! Hope he likes it.
Okay, that is an incredible list. The Journals of Alice Walker… I didn’t even know this was coming out! And yes, I did find it darn near impossible to narrow my choices down.
Here’s my TTT.
Thank you for your kind words.
Great list! Instant Karma sounds cute!
Thanks!
Instant Karma sounds so cute! Hope you’ll enjoy all of these!
Thank you!
Love the amount of vampires on your list! Have to check them both out 🙂
Yay! Hope you like them.
I absolutely need Vampires Never Get Old, I don’t read enough anthologies. Also, new Christopher Paolini!
I know, right? So exciting.
I recently read Vampires Never Get Old and loved it – I hope you do too! Fantastic list, I’m definitely adding some of these to my TBR.
Thanks for visiting my TTT.
Yay! So glad you liked it.
Gathering Blossoms Under Fire looks fantastic. Hope you enjoy all of these!
Thanks. 🙂
Vampires Never Get Old looks delightful! Thanks for sharing 🙂
You’re welcome. Enjoy!
So many good books to come!
For sure. 🙂
Oh, True Names does sound like it will be a powerful one! I hope you enjoy all of these. <3
Thank you very much.
Cinders & Sparrows looks lovely! I’m going to have to check it out.
Cool. Enjoy!
Oooh vampires! So glad you commented on my TTT so I could come check yours out! 🙂
You’re welcome. Thanks for coming by to say hello.
The vampires anthology looks interesting, I hadn’t heard of that one before!
I hope you like it if you read it!
Vampires seem to be making a comeback! I wonder if it has anything to do with the new Twilight book? I hope you enjoy these.
It could be! And thanks.
Yes, it was definitely hard to narrow this list to only ten. There are so many upcoming titles I want to read! You have an eclectic list. I’m an eclectic reader too although I have my favorite genres. Alice Walker’s book looks good.
Thanks. It’s cool to meet another eclectic reader.
Great list! I’m looking forward to Instant Karma and Vampires Never Get Old.
Hope you like them!
Wow, this is a great list! Definitely adding some of these to my TBR–I’ve never read Margaret Atwood’s poetry before.
I hope you love her poetry! And thank you.
Instant Karma and In a Sea of Stars Look awesome! Great picks!
Here is my Top Ten Tuesday Post
Michelle @ Book Briefs
Yay! Thanks.
Instant Karma looks absolutely great!
So glad you think so.
I want to read the Paolini book for sure. The Vampires too. Love both those covers. And I just saw that first vampire one on Goodreads yesterday and now it’s showing up on lists- sounds good!
Happy reading! I think you’ll like those books.
True Names sounds good. There are some African American families in Appalachia, but more likely there are a few mixed-race children or foster or adopted children who are Black–at least where I live which is right at the start of Appalachia in Ohio.
Good to know!
These look fun! And yes, I had a hard time keeping this week’s list to ten books also. (I think I listed 12…)
Cool. 🙂
Agreed on Nimiety (a cool new word to me). What is it about Ferris Wheels in a state of decay that so intensely brings out the post-apocalyptic sense of loss? More than overgrown roads and buildings, even, there’s something about that specific structure that hits really hard.
As to the sentence “What’s not to love about inheriting a castle and all of the magical things inside of it?” — get out of my brain! Couldn’t have said it better myself.
I know, right?
And thanks. 🙂
This is great list of books! Vampires Never Get Old sounds so good, especially with that lineup of fantastic authors.
I hope you enjoy Vampires of Portlandia – I liked that one. Also hope that you get to read and enjoy everything on your list as well. Happy reading! 😊
Thank you very much.
I kept my list to ten, but it wasn’t easy. There are lots of great-sounding books still to come out. 2020 hasn’t been ALL bad 🙂
I’m interested to see how Meyer does in a different genre from her usual. INSTANT KARMA sounds cute. I hadn’t heard of NIMIETY before, but now I’m super intrigued. Looks dystopian and I’m always up for that 🙂 I love books about Appalachia, so I’m definitely going to take a closer look at TRUE NAMES.
Happy TTT!

Happy TTT to you as well. Hope you enjoy the books that caught your eye if you read them.
Instant Karma sounds interesting!
For sure!
I’ve seen Instant Karma by Marissa Meyer on quite a few list this week. Seems like a cute story. Here’s my TTT list.
Thanks. And agreed.
I had no idea that Christopher Paolini and Margaret Atwood had new books coming out. Thanks for sharing.
You’re welcome. Hope you enjoy them.
I’m going to have to check out that book of poetry by Margaret Atwood when it’s released. I don’t read nearly enough poetry although I love it, and she always has me thinking, so it seems like it’ll be a great combo. I should go back and check out some of her earlier poetry.
I hope you enjoy it. She writes wonderful poetry.
Some good titles here. I still haven’t read any Paolini!!
Thanks. If you read Paolini’s stuff, I hope you enjoy it.
That Margaret Atwood poetry collection intrigues me. I’m excited for Instant Karma too. That one just sounds like a fun read.
Cool!
Thanks for popping by Picky to leave some comment love! That book on depression and the one on food allergies… I really hope they’re GOOD. You’ve got some interesting titles on your list. Enjoy them!
You’re welcome. I’m glad you were intrigued by those books.
Discovered some great books in your list!
Yay!
I’m sold in Vampires in Portlandia. It’s going on my tbr right now!
Cool. Enjoy!
Instant Karma sounds good!! Hope you enjoy your choices when you get them!
Thank you very much.
Oh my god. You’ve got some really interesting books here. Vampires Never Get Old and Vampires of Portlandia are definitely added to my TBR list! Can you tell I have a preference? Haha!
Heh, for sure!
Vampires Never Get Old and Instant Karma sounds great! Can’t wait for them to be released 🙂
I hope you like them!
You’re right, Nimiety is instantly intriguing!
🙂
Wow there are sooo many books on here that I haven’t heard of yet! Added a bunch to my tbr 😀 thank you for posting!
Cinders and Sparrows and Instant Karma look so good, and VAMPIRES – ‘nough said!
You’re welcome. Enjoy!
Great picks.
I also love the idea of instant karma! Although that might mean I have to be less snarky…
Haha! Could be.
Ohhh, i am loving these titles — which are all new to me. BUT, Vampires of Portlandia, that cover? Soooo very cool!
I know, right?
Margaret Atwood is coming ut with a new book? Cool! I wonder why Goodreads didn’t tell me…hmmm.
You have some nice books lined up here.
I’m not sure why Goodreads hasn’t told you about that book yet, but I’m glad you found out. 🙂
Nice list! New books to me.
Thank you!
I hope you find some new favorites in these!
Thanks!
Ooh, I’ve been meaning to try some of the authors in that vampire anthology; I shall have to keep an eye out for it!
Enjoy!
I’ve seen Vampires Never Get Old making the rounds! I hope you enjoy all of these! ♡
Thank you! And, yeah, a few of us mentioned that book this week.
What a fabulous list. Vampires Never Get Old, Cinder and Sparrows, and Link by Link all need to go on my wish list. The first two aren’t normal reads for me, but they sound so good.
Thanks for sharing.
You’re welcome. Happy reading!
Cinders and Sparrows looks like it’ll be a really good one! I’m really curious about To Sleep in a Sea of Stars, too. Great list!
Thank you very much. Enjoy.
I haven’t heard of a lot of these books before but they sound interesting especially To Sleep in a Sea of Stars and Cinders and Sparrows!
I’m glad you think so. 🙂
There are a few on here that have piqued my interest Lydia. I will be checking them out. Thanks for sharing them and adding to my TBR.
You’re welcome. Happy reading!
Ooo I didn’t know about the Margaret Atwood poetry! I’m not the biggest fan of poetry, but I’m a massive Atwood fan so I’m going to have to give it a go. Thanks!
I hope you like it!
Oh damn, I didn’t know that Atwood is coming out with something new! I’ll have to check it out.
I’m glad you know now. 🙂
I’m really looking forward to Instant Karma!
Cool!
Nimiety got my attention right away too. The Ferris wheel reminded me of Chernobyl.
Yes, absolutely. I thought of that, too.
Link by Link sounds intriguing, though I am surprised it doesn’t include A Christmas Carol. I’m also interested to see what Marissa Meyer is up to with Instant Karma. I’m kind of reserving judgment on the Paolini book until I see some reviews. But I’m definitely on board for Cinders and Sparrows!
Cool!
I’m intrigued by the “Vampires Never Get Old: Tales with Fresh Bite” anthology. I’ll have to look it up!
Enjoy!
This is such a great list!
Thank you!
