Hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl
Let’s see how many things I can add to this list. The prompt for this week said “these could be books, authors, blogs, websites, apps, products, etc.,” so I’m going to try to be creative with it.
This is a bookish Halloween blog that I love. They have a weekly roundup of links that have introduced me to so many new authors and random literary things.
The Wednesday Weekly Blogging Challenge.
This is a fun blog hop put on by Long and Short Reviews. The topics last year range from favourite characters to recipes to books you’d recommend to people who liked a certain genre.
Open Mic Nights at My Local Library
I don’t know how many – if any – I’ll be attending this year, but it was pretty amazing to listen to other people read their own work, share a favourite poem from a famous writer, sing, crack jokes, and otherwise explore the wide world of literature and the arts last year. If your community has a library, I’d definitely recommend checking to see if they have a similar event (and asking them for one if they don’t).
It’s such a wonderful way to spend an evening and get to know your community better.
If you’re on Twitter, #FolkloreThursday happens every Thursday. Their website or Twitter account generally share the specific themes ahead of time. Past topics have ranged from the food to children to winter holidays.
I’ve learned about so many legends and traditions from the folks who run it and highly recommend it to anyone who loves fairy tales, folk tales, or anything similar to that.

Great list! Open mic nights at your library sounds really fun – I don’t think there’s anything like that near me, but I used to love going to open mic nights at uni.
Thanks! Open mic nights at a university would be fun.
Open mic nights? That sounds really cool!
I know, right? 🙂
These all sound fascinating, especially the Open Mic Night.
So I really need to check out that blog. Thanks for sharing!
You’re welcome and enjoy.
Open mic Night sounds awesome, I’ll have to check my library and see if they do that.. I’m pretty sure they don’t. Also I have never heard of Wednesday Weekly Blogging Challenge but that’s such a great idea!
I hope your library does have some sort of Open Mic Night!
And the Wednesday Weekly Blogging Challenge is awesome.
This is a fantastic list! Folklore Thursday sounds so fun and eye opening. We will definitely have to check it out!
Thank you very much. I hope you adore Folklore Thursday. They’ve built up such a kind and knowledgable community.
#FolkloreThursday sounds like fun! Thanks for sharing.
You’re welcome. Enjoy!
The library open mic night is a brilliant idea!
It sure is. 🙂
Folklore Thursday sounds amazing!
It sure is. 🙂
These are such interesting bookish discoveries!
Folklore Thursday sounds like a lot of fun, will have to check it out, so thanks for sharing!
Enjoy! You’re welcome.
Great discoveries!! Happy reading. 🙂
Those are some great discoveries! I would love if my library did an open mic night! I think I will look into doing the Wednesday weekly blogging challenge as well. Thank you for sharing and visiting my list!
You’re welcome. I hope your library does an open mic night someday and that I’ll see you around on the Wednesday Weekly Blogging Challenge soon.
The open mic thing sounds interesting. After NaNoWriMo was over, we all read something from our stories that we had written (we had a weekly write-in at the library where we’d work on our NaNo projects). I go to a biweekly critique group at the library and spend so much time there already, LOL.
Oh, that sounds fun!
And I’m glad you spend plenty of time at your local library already. That’s awesome.
That’s really cool that your library has open mic nights!
Thanks. Yeah, it’s wonderful.
Oooh, Folkelore Thursday sounds fabulous! I’m going to have to look that up. Definitely sounds like something I’d be interested in. :3 Open mic night sounds like a lot of fun, too. We wanted to start something like that at our local library, but we’re still trying to gauge the interest and if anyone will come. xD
Yes, you’d love it!
I hope you do get to have an open mic night at your local library, too.
Open mic nights sounds incredible. I’m so glad your library does this. Hope you enjoy the rest of your week!
And you as well!
That was a great list! I am pretty sure, my library doesn’t have open mic nights, it does sound fun though. Glad you discovered it!
Thanks a lot. 🙂
Nice list! I have to check out #FolkloreThursday!
OOh nice! Those are new to me things too! Folklore Thursday sounds fun!
Thanks for visiting my TTT!
You’re welcome. And Folklore Thursday is awesome.
Great list. I’ve not been to an open mic night at a library but some of my local bookshops have some fantastic events!
Thanks. And, yeah, bookshops would be another fabulous place to visit for bookish events.
Open mic nights at the library sound amazing!
It absolutely is. 🙂
Seriously, Open Mic Night at the library sounds fantastic! I kind of want to do it at my library, but that would open a whole host of nasty that I don’t think I’d be able to handle… O.o
It requires moderation for sure! The librarian who handles it at my library does a great job, but he does have to stay on top of things.
Thank you. 🙂
I will definitely ask my library to start one. Sounds great. Here’s mine: https://pmprescott.blogspot.com/2020/01/top-ten-tuesday-011420.html
Cool! And nice list you had there, Patrick.
That Wednesday Blogging Challenge sounds fun. I’ll have to look into it. Thanks for sharing!
Enjoy! It’s a lot of fun.
I love the wide variety of things that can be found at the local library. And I’ll have to check out that Halloween blog!
I think you’d love that blog, Greg, and agreed. Libraries really do have everything these days.
Great list! Open mic night sounds so nice 🙂 I love looking through the Folklore Thursday tag. I think it’s the only hashtag I check regularly on twitter haha.
The Folklore Thursday hashtag is the best for sure.
ooo I’m super interested by folklore Tuesday!!
It’s definitely worth checking out!
My 18-year-old daughter is a talented poet and she LOVES open mic nights! I would be absolutely terrified to stand up in front of people and share something I wrote, but she’s fearless. Enjoy your open mic nights. Sounds fun (to listen, anyway)!
Oh, that’s so cool. Good for your daughter.
I have not been brave enough to join in as a performer on Open Mic night. Maybe someday. 🙂
I’m so envious with open mic nights. That sounds so much fun. I think I only see it in movies and TV shows. I would love to attend one someday but not here in the Philippines. Our libraries are lacking. I don’t say that to degrade my country and the libraries here but it’s just the fact. When I get rich, I’ll make every local town libraries here as my charity. 🙂 🙂
I hope you become wealthy someday and are able to help your local libraries.
That open mic night sounds like such a cool experience. I wish we had something like that here.
I hope you’ll get something like it someday! It’s fabulous.
I love the sound of Open Mic night — I went to an event at a local library last year that was just so much fun — you reminded me I need to look into going to more there.
I hope you’ll do exactly that!
Wow, loved your list. I need to explore some of those. Thank you!
You’re welcome. Glad you liked it.
That’s a cool list!
Thanks a lot.
That’s a great list! Open mic nights at the library sounds like an interesting time. I’ll be suggesting that to our local library.
Yay! I hope they agree to start doing it for you.
I will for sure be checking out that Halloween blog you mention! Sounds cool.
Cool. Hope you like it.
Folklore Thursday sounds really cool, I’ll have to check it out!
Oooh The Wednesday Weekly Blogging Challenge sounds fun. I already do something on Wednesdays but maybe…
We’d love to see you join in as often as you choose to. There’s no pressure to participate every week if you can’t do so. 🙂
I am definitely going to partake in the Wednesday Weekly Blogging Challenge! I don’t always have a reservoir for TTT so I can delay my Tuesday posts, or just pot WWBC a day early, and follow their topics. This is great!
Yay! That’s awesome. I can’t wait to read your responses to their future prompts.
This is a very unique list, Lydia– I love how you’ve stretched yourself for this week’s TTT! Very fun. The library I go to doesn’t have an open mic night, but the main library does. I’ll make an effort to go sometime this year; the main library is almost an hour from my house, so it’s quite a trek!
Thank you very much!
That is a long trek to the main library. I’m glad you’re able to go sometimes and hope you enjoy the open mic night there.
The Wednesday weekly blogging challenge seems so nice
It sure is. Are you thinking of checking it out?
Open mic nights at your library sounds like a good time!! Great list! Happy TTT! <3
Thanks. And, yeah, it’s super fun. I’m so glad our libraries offer it. Happy TTT to you as well.
Lydia, looks like you’ve made some lovely discoveries – I especially like the sound of those open mic nights at your local library. 🙂
Aww, thanks. Yes, they’re wonderful.
