Top Ten Tuesday: Books for Armchair Travelers

Hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl

This is one of those cases where I’ve read and enjoyed all of the Top Ten Tuesday books I’m mentioning today. It’s been a while since I’ve read some of them, but maybe they’ll become rereads this year.

Thank you to Laurie C @ Bay State Reader’s Advisory for submitting this topic.

  1. As usual, I’ve heard of some of these including Like Water for Chocolate but never read any. 🙂

  2. I love it when people share titles they have already read and enjoyed. Like you just did!

  3. I loved The Poisonwood Bible and The Joy Luck Club!

  4. These are wonderful choices — I’ve read 7! I do think it’s a gap in my reading that I’ve never read Things Fall Apart. I need to make a point of it!

  5. The cover for Snow Flower and the Secret Fan is beautiful!

  6. Lovely choices, I’ve read a few of these.
    Thanks for sharing your #TTT

  7. Very nice list. I’ve wanted to read Like Water for Chocolate for a long time.

  8. Great list! The Kite Runner is still on my TBR and Snow Flower and the Secret Fan sounds so interesting too.

  9. I remember when I was reading The Kite Runner, I wanted to DNF it, because it felt slow. But I also found myself thinking about it when I wasn’t reading it. It’s been several years, but I still randomly think about it.

    Here’s my TTT post: https://readbakecreate.com/time-to-plan-that-vacation-books-featuring-travel/

  10. What an interesting list! I’ve read Like Water for Chocolate and Things Fall Apart but it was so long ago that I don’t remember either. I’ve always been curious about The Poisonwood Bible, though.

  11. These look interesting. Enjoy re reading them!

    Have a great week!

  12. Ahhh, Memoirs of a Geisha. I remember loving that so much.

  13. Great list, Lydia. I’ve never read Walden or, Life in the Woods or Memoirs of a Geisha, but they have been on my list of want to read. Thanks for sharing and for visiting my blog.

  14. I’ve read 5 out of 10, and all of the others are on my TBR except Infidel, which I wasn’t familiar with. Maybe nonfiction?
Thank you for visiting my blog today! My job and visiting my mom on Tuesdays after work always make me late on blog-hopping and commenting on a Tuesday.

  15. Great list! I love Barbara Kingsolver. Happy Tuesday!

  16. Ooo Lydia, Memoirs of a Geisha is a great choice for this topic! Been years since I read this, but I can still picture the wonderful, exotic descriptions of place, that made you feel you were there! 😊

  17. What a superb list! I’ve read and loved nearly all of these. Nice work!

  18. What a great selection of books! I’ve added Infidel to my TBR. And thanks for reminding me about The Poisonwood Bible, which is already on it.

  19. Great list! Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden is such a great one!!

  20. I love your list! I’ve only read two (The Joy Luck Club and Like Water for Chocolate) but several of the others are on my TBR list.

  21. What a list of great books! I’ve read several of these and loved them too, and the ones I haven’t read have been on my TBR forever! I should really make my way through them.

  22. I recommend Bruce Chatwin ‘In Patagonia’ for that feeling of travelling!

A film, ‘Patagonia’, was made in 2011 and also features Welsh emigrants in Patagonia and other themes, which I recommend.

    • Thank you for stopping by, Herbert. It’s always nice to hear from you. I keep trying to figure out how to comment on your blog, too.

I’ll look both of those up. Very cool.
