Photo of a road closed sign that has been erected in the middle of a road that looks like it’s headed toward the beach. Everyone has different tastes, of course, but none of these famous books have ever piqued my interest:

1. Twilight by Stephenie Meyer

2. A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess

3. Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead

4. Don Quixote by Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra

5. Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo

6. Watchmen by Alan Moore

7. A Walk to Remember by Nicholas Sparks
8. The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern
9. The Boy in the Striped Pajamas by John Boyne
10. The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer
(Isn’t it hard to list books you don’t want to read? Normally, I’d focus on the ones I do want to read and quietly never mention the rest!)

  1. I’ve read all of these except 2, 3, and 5. I loved Don Quixote and Striped Pajamas, and I don’t think I’d ever read A Clockwork Orange. I’d also have Lolita on my list of Books I Will Never Read..ugh.

  2. Nice post Lydia. I agree though…I had to work a lot harder at this than I did listing books I loved!

  3. Twilight has never appealed to me and I thought it would because I’m a fan of things like Buffy the Vampire Slayer and True Blood. But something about it is just off putting. I can’t quite put my finger in why.

  4. Having been forced to watch the Clockwork Orange movie, I DO NOT blame you for wanting to avoid that as much as possible.

  5. I did try reading A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess – just could not.

I had already seen the movie and was hoping the book gave more context, but I kept visualizing the movie while reading and had to stop.

  6. Twilight made my list, too, Lydia. I definitely struggled to come up with my list because I rarely focus on what I don’t want to read. Thanks for sharing.

  7. I have read A Clockwork Orange, and I don’t think you’re missing anything. (You aren’t missing anything if you haven’t watched the movie, either.)

  8. It’s tough to choose certain books you don’t want to read. I know I dislike romantic novels but wouldn’t be able to tell a single title that I wouldn’t read because I never look at them any closer than, oh, pink cover, not for me. LOL

From your list I have read Clockwork Orange, Don Quixote, The Boy in the Striped Pajamas and The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. I did like them but if you think they are not for you, I doubt you will miss out.
