There’s something about the cozy mystery genre that screams autumn to me.
No, every cozy mystery isn’t set at this time of the year, but I recently learned that a surprising number of them are.
There are also a lot of cozy mysteries that include the colour orange in their titles or somewhere in their covers.
This isn’t a genre I read regularly, so I’d be curious to hear if those of you who do have a lot of experience with it have noticed the same patterns.
1. Hallowe’en Party (Hercule Poirot, #39) by Agatha Christie
2. The Ghost and Mrs. Mewer (Paws and Claws Mystery, #2) by Krista Davis
3. Death By Pumpkin Spice (Bookstore Cafe Mystery, #3) by Alex Erickson
4. Shelved Under Murder (Blue Ridge Library Mysteries, #2) by Victoria Gilbert
5. Turkey Day Murder (A Lucy Stone Mystery, #7) by Leslie Meier
6. The Stitching Hour (Embroidery Mystery, #9) by Amanda Lee
7. Mulberry Mischief (A Berry Basket Mystery #4) by Sharon Farrow
8. Knit of the Living Dead (A Knit & Nibble Mystery #6) by Peggy Ehrhart
9. Candy Corn Murder (A Lucy Stone Mystery, #22) by Leslie Meier
10. Wicked Witch Murder (A Lucy Stone Mystery, #16) by Leslie Meier

Great list! This is a genre I’d really like to get into–the cover of Candy Corn Murder is so cute.
Agreed. And thanks.
Love this list! I dabble with cozy mysteries, and I have noticed a lot seem to have an autumn setting (or at least autumn vibe, based on the cover and/or title). I think I’ll be adding a couple of these to my TBR 🙂
Thanks! And good to know that this is a true theme in that genre.
LOVE all of these covers, Lydia! Haha this is my second time seeing the cover for Knit of the Living Dead and I love it even more — it’s adorable 😍 The Candy Corn Murder cover is great too. I’ve been wanting to read more cosy mysteries so some of these are defo going on my TBR! Great picks 😊
Thank you. Yeah, both of those books sound fun. I think I’ll read them sometime, too.
Great choices this week!
I love this. I am a huge cozy mystery reader and have read several of these. I did not know Agatha Christie had a Halloween Mystery though. Great post.
Yay! That’s awesome. Thanks.
I love cozy mystery titles and covers. They’re just so much fun! Nice picks!
Thank you. 🙂
That’s a lot of fun! I enjoy reading cozy mysteries, but I hadn’t thought to look for any for this prompt. It does seem that cozies incorporate the season into the story (and book cover) more than many genres, so this was a perfect pick!
Thank you very much. 🙂
I love this theme! Super cute going for books that are actually seasonally themed vs. coloration! Even though I don’t read cozy mysteries (except on a rare occasion) I always have loved their naming convention! Also, is it weird that when I saw “Death by Pumpkin Spice” I gave a side eye of caution to the pumpkin spice flavored coffee next to me?
Thank you! And I think it’s totally understandably that you ave your pumpkin spice coffee the side eye for a second. LOL.
Cozy mysteries always seem to have such cute titles.
They sure do.
I don’t read a ton of mysteries, let alone cozy mysteries, but all these covers look so much fun, so I need to give them a try. Also, the cover for Candy Corn Murder is ADORABLE.
Isn’t it, though? I might have squealed just a little when I found it. 🙂
Lots of murder mystery books out this time of year. https://pmprescott.blogspot.com/2020/10/ttt-100620.html
Will have to give the Halloween Agatha Christie a try, I’m surprised I’ve never seen that one done for TV!
I hope you like it! It does sound like it would make a good TV movie.
Love the list! That Candy Corn ghost is SUPER adorable, all of these give off such great “fall” vibes!
Thank you very much.
I love your list and want to read a lot of the books. Hallowe´en Party is in my bookshelf. Rmbroidery mystery, Paws and claws mystery, Blue Ridge Library Mystery – irresistable series!
Thank you very much. Enjoy.
Love the Agatha Christie cover!
It’s the best. 🙂
I love the Victoria Gilbert books!
Cool! Which one do you like most?
Fun list–candy corn does murdeer me! Ugh so sweet!
Nice list! It’s only recently that I’ve come to really appreciate cozy mysteries. I don’t love all of them, of course, but I’ve found some series I really enjoy. And, yes, I’ve noticed that most of them seem to take place during the Fall and Winter. Since Fall is the definition of cozy, I think that makes sense 🙂
I hear you there. Happy TTT to you as well.
Didn’t realise so many cosy mysteries had such autumn vibes!
There are a ton of them!
Cozy mystery is one of my favorite genres, so I’m thrilled to see your post today! Especially with so many great ones included. The Stitching Hour is great, and you can never go wrong with a good Agatha Christie novel.
Yay, I’m so glad you liked it! What’s your favourite cozy mystery?
Now that’s a hard question! I really, really like the Agatha Raisin series by M.C. Beaton. But I’ve been loving Vivien Chien’s noodle shop mysteries lately. And Abby Collette’s new series that starts with A Deadly Inside Scoop is fantastic so far … honestly, pick a cozy and I probably like it! What about you?
I’m loving the cozy mysteries 🙂
I’ve been wanting to get into cozy mysteries. This is such a great list of books.
I hope you like them if you read them!
Ah, some good and seasonal choices there! 😀
Great list! I think my favorite is Candy Corn Murder. Happy reading!
Thanks. Yeah, that’s a great title for sure.
These are great! I love all these mysteries with jack-o-lanterns on the cover! Knit of the Living Dead is particularly adorable. 🙂
So many fun cozy mysteries! Thank you for sharing!
You’re quite welcome.
All these look so much fun. I love mysteries any time of year, but now is the best time for them.
Thanks for visiting my blog.
You’re welcome. And, yes, now is the perfect time to read a mystery.
I don’t typically read a lot of mysteries but this post makes me want to! So many of these just look so cosy and great for this time of the year. Great picks!
Thank you. That’s awesome.
I love the really cute Halloween mystery covers! All for cats and pumpkins.
They’re the best for sure.
I LOVE that cover of Hallowe’en Party. That just screams spooky to me haha. In fact I started that book once but fell away… need to try again. also I love the Meier covers. So cute and fun!
Yay! I’m glad.
So many of these covers are adorable, especially the Death by Pumpkin Spice one!
I really like these, some of them are so pretty. I’m hoping to read Halloween Party this month.
Thanks. I hope you like Halloween Party.
So many pumpkins! Love the cover of Halloween Party.
I know, right? Pumpkins everywhere. 🙂
I like cosy mysteries, but I haven’t noticed the same pattern you have — that said, with such lovely covers like this, I really ought to!
Cute covers. I love them all.
Thanks for visiting my TTT earlier.
You’re quite welcome. Glad you enjoyed my post.
Those are such fall books! can I jumped into those covers and experience fall for the very first time? Love it <3
Yay! I’m so glad.
Knit of the Living Dead got my attention immediately, that cover is so cute!
It sure is. 🙂
I’ve never read a cozy mystery (except for a few Agatha Christie books) but I really want to give it a try! These all look like fun options. Great list!
Nice list! I’m adding a couple of these to my TBR, it’s a genre I really want to get into.
Great list – Death by Pumpkin Spice is an excellent title!
OMG, these covers are so cute! Love your list. 🙂
I hadn’t noticed that pattern before but I bet I’ll be more aware of it moving forward. I love all of these covers. 🙂
ooooooh! i wanna read the first one! nice picks, Lydia!
Ooh cozy mystery fall covers! I love a good cozy mystery and stopped reading them for awhile. I need to go back because I’m in the middle of like 4 different series lol.
These pun titles are just the best. XD
I agree! There IS something about the cozy mystery genre that feels very autumn. Even when her covers don’t convey fall, the subject of Agatha Christie stories always “seem” autumn-esque – perhaps because they’re darker. Thanks so much for visiting Finding Wonderland.
