Top Ten Tuesday: Books with Single-Word Titles

Hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl

Woman Reading a BookI kept things simple for this week’s prompt. Most of these books are ones I haven’t read yet, but all of them grabbed my attention with their short, snappy titles. It’s harder than you think to come up with a single word that will do that!

1. Jailbird by Kurt Vonnegut Jr.

2. Amigo by Byrd Baylor

3. Equipoise (Ennek #3) by Kim Fielding

4. Fingersmith by Sarah Waters

5. Beloved by Toni Morrison

6. Fury by Salman Rushdie

7.Paprika by Yasutaka Tsutsui

8. Confessions by Kanae Minato

9. Solo by Kwame Alexander

10. Me by Elton John

  3. I haven’t read any of these but the titles are very intriguing!

  4. I’ve only heard of one of these titles but I’ve seen Fingersmith mentioned on a few lists today! I’m definitely curious about it now. I’m embarrassed to admit that I still haven’t read Beloved lol great list, Lydia 🙂

  5. I have Me on hold at the library. Elton has always been such an interesting figure and I’m intrigued to see what he shares of his life.

  6. Great list! I agree, finding a good one word title for a book seems really hard.

  7. I remember reading Beloved years ago when Mr. Barb bought it as a Christmas gift. I also have a copy of Me and need to make time for it. Right now I’m reading a Stevie Nicks book and I can really only read one memoir/biography at a time. Great list!

  8. I forgot about Beloved! I still haven’t read it, but I might read it someday.

  9. I haven’t read any of these, but I love the titles. 🙂

  10. Gasp! Seems none of the books are familiar to me :3

  11. Ohhh! I want to read ME! Great list!

  12. I’ve read Beloved. It’s an interesting read. I wrote an essay about it at uni, though admittedly I can’t remember what I talked about!

Fingersmith was pretty good if you get a chance to try it! It’s twisted and the ending is sort of a let down but mostly good. Great list!

  36. I have not heard any of those books! 🙈 But it’s great to see other books on this list! 💕

  37. I think sometimes the one-word titles can be more attention-grabbing than the long ones, because they really make you focus on what that word means. Fingersmith is one that grabbed my attention, for sure, and had me asking more questions.

  38. Ooo I haven’t read Jailbird, I’ll have to check that one out. Love Vonnegut.

  39. I haven’t read any of these but I love that Elton John’s book is simply called Me. It’s so on-brand for him.

  46. Beloved made my list this week too. Wow, what a book!
