Top Ten Tuesday: Extraordinary Book Titles

Hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl

I’m going to assume that this week’s prompt is asking us to make a list of book titles that are unique and attention grabbing. Everything on my list is something that grabbed my attention so thoroughly I had to pick it up and read the blurb as soon as I spotted its title. Since most of them are still on my TBR, I won’t go into detail about them this time.

1. Pride and Prejudice and Zombies (Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, #1) by Seth Grahame-Smith

2. The Hollow Chocolate Bunnies of the Apocalypse by Robert Rankin

3. Fairy Tales Written by Rabbits by Mary A. Parker

4. Never Slow Dance with a Zombie  by E. Van Lowe

5. Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil by John Berendt

  1. Great choices.
Go the Fuck to Sleep is a particularly bittersweet one. I used to laugh at it, now I could cry as I have TWO that do this!!!!!

  2. Great list! Go the Fuck to Sleep is still one of the best book titles ever, in my opinion. Never Slow Dance with a Zombie is such a good title – I need to check that one out!

  3. Drop Dead Healthy, great title.

  4. Hahah Go the Fuck to Sleep – that one is pretty epic!

  5. I see you love long titles 😁

  6. Pride and Prejudice and Zombies is a delightfully absurd book!

And while I haven’t read The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland, the album inspired by that book (Wonders by S. J. Tucker) is one of my favorites and well worth listening to if you like fairy folk music. (SJ Tucker is one of my favorite musicians, period.)

  7. These are all great titles! I especially like Fairy Tales Written by Rabbits! Happy reading! 🙂
    My Top Ten Tuesday!

  8. I forgot about THE GIRL WHO CIRCUMNAVIGATED…what a wonderful title. All the books in that series have cool titles. My TTT

  9. OMG, Hollow Chocolate Bunnies of the Apocalypse is definitely an extraordinary book title! Now I need to go see what it’s about! 😀

  10. The Hollow Chocolate Bunnies of the Apocalypse is an interesting title. It leaves some questions on what it’s about.

  11. Great list Lydia! I haven’t read any of these books, but I would love to read The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making by Catherynne M. Valente, and I saw the film of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies which I thought was good fun. Here’s my TTT post: https://thebookwormchronicles.wordpress.com/2019/10/15/top-ten-tuesday-15th-october-2019/ 🙂

  12. “The Hollow Chocolate Bunnies of the Apocalypse” — Now THAT’S a title and I’m curious and have so many questions. xD I’ve always loved the title “Go the Fuck to Sleep,” and it makes me giggle. Because I’m clearly a horrible parent.

  13. Great titles! I had to simply take the first 10 that attracted my attention and stop because I could have made a very long list! Maybe a list for each genre! 😂😂😂

  16. Ooo! P+P+Z is an excellent pick. That one definitely snags the attention of a would-be reader, whether for the good or bad, well, that depends on the reader. 😉 Thanks so much for visiting Finding Wonderland, Lydia.

  17. Hey, I just checked out ‘The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making’ from the local library for my younger sister the other day. All truly unusual titles, but my favorite has got to be ‘The Hollow Chocolate Bunnies of the Apocalypse!” 🙂

  18. Go the Fuck to Sleep is definitely the best title. Direct & exactly what I think when I am babysitting (at times). 😂

  19. I’ve read Pride and Prejudice and Zombies which was a lot of fun, but I haven’t watched the movie yet. Might be a good one this time of year. Great list! 🙂

  20. These are great! XD I especially love Pride and Prejudice and Zombies!

  21. I have a copy of The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland, but just haven’t read it yet. All of these titles sound amazing. I particularly like the Hollow Chocolate Bunnies of the Apocalypse. That sounds like a hoot!

  25. These are some really interesting book titles!

  26. Love the list! Thanks for stopping by.

  27. Pride and Prejudice and Zombies is such a wacky title!

And I can’t even bring myself to write it, but I can’t imagine someone naming their book something so astonishingly awful. I bet it was a bestseller!

  28. Two of these made my list! Also, Go The Fuck To Sleep is an awesome title. My baby needs that book!

  29. “The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making (Fairyland, #1)”

  33. Nice choices! You’ve got some really interesting ones in here!

  34. These are most definitely extraordinary titles. And, as someone who has had issues with sleep my whole life, I especially love the title Go the Fuck to Sleep. Haven’t all parents wanted to scream that out?

  35. amanda

the hollow chocolate bunnies makes me hungry lmaooo great list

  36. I can’t BELIEVE I forgot The Girl Who Circumnavigated… it’s an amazing title. And I’m totally used to Love in the Time of Cholera now, but I thought it was a very quirky title when I first heard it. It’s funny what you grow accustomed to, eh?

  37. Great list! I almost added The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland to my list this week, and Go the Fuck to Sleep (I particularly love that title haha).

  38. Ooh I really like The Hollow Chocolate Bunnies of the Apocalypse! Great title. Same with Never Slow Dance With a Zombie. eww lol.

Go the F*ck To Sleep cracks me up!

  39. *dies laughing* 4, 7, and 9 just cracked me up so much! These are brilliant picks, Lydia!

  40. Go the Fuck to Sleep has always caught my attention. I really need to read it to see what it’s about. I picked up
.The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making but didn’t get through much of it and ended up DNFing it. If you get around to it I’d like to see what you think.

  41. You have some really awesome-sounding book titles listed here…I think I’ve heard good things about the Chocolate Bunnies of the Apocalypse. I was given Pride & Prejudice and Zombies for my birthday one year…and just couldn’t get into it. I think I’m too attached to the original novel 😀

  42. Great list. I have read Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, of course because of the title – and that I read Pride and Prejudice in high school. Never Slow Dance With A Zombie is being added to my TBR. Thanks for sharing.

  43. Well, I definitely need to look up The Hollow Chocolate Bunnies of the Apocalypse!

  44. I love these! And how have I not stumbled across the Eddie Bear series before?? Where have I been? Great list and now I have MORE books to read.

  45. The Hollow Chocolate Bunnies of the Apocalypse sounds like a super fun title. And I do need to get around to .The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making, I like what I’ve read of Valente’s other books and short stories so far.

  46. Go the Fuck to Sleep is definitely a standout title.

  47. Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil is a great title but I just could not get through the book. I tried and tried but it was such a slow read.

  48. The Hollow Chocolate Bunnies of the Apocalypse is an interesting title! And I’ve heard of The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairlyand in a Ship of Her Own Making; great title! The word choice is awesome. 🙂

Thank you for checking out my list too!

    ~Amber

  49. Pride and Prejudice and Zombies is definitely an attention-grabbing title. I have no idea how zombies could ever feature in the world of Pride and Prejudice haha.

  50. I forgot about Pride, Prejudice and Zombies or that would have definitely made my list this week. Go the Fuck to Sleep makes me laugh every time I see it, lol. Such a unique yet relatable title for a parent.

  51. I definitely picked up The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making because of the title alone. Great List.

  52. RS

I haven’t heard of most of these, but I definitely clicked on 2 and 9 to find out more. (and number 9 is DEFINITELY going on my library-checkout list now)

I haven’t read 5 or 8, but I’m familiar with them and I agree they have an iconic ring to them.
