Watching TV is one of my spouse’s favourite things to do. Over the years, I’ve cultivated the ability to (accidentally) look away from the screen at the exact moment that something important happens that is not noted in the dialogue.
I can’t tell you how many times my spouse has needed to rewind thirty seconds so I can see a mysterious shadowy figure in the background or the note written on a sheet of paper the main character is holding that are important clues for future plot twists.
If there were any way to earn a living from this ability, I’d be a millionaire at bare minimum!
That is quite a talent. Years ago I had my parents watch The Descent (horror flick) because there’s a moment like that in the opening setup. My mom caught it immediately; Dad missed it entirely.
Thanks! And that’s too funny.
I do that a lot too! I don’t know HOW many times I’ve had to rewind or ask “wait, what just happened?” to the annoyance of all around me 🙂
Oh, too funny!
That is a great gift you have!
Heh, thanks.
Ah, yes. I’ve done that a few times.
🙂
I manage to do this too – it’s especially a problem when we’re watching sub titled series. By the time my husband has explained what I’ve missed, he’s missed the next bit of vital dialogue.
