Here are the Halloween posts I’ve written for Top Ten Tuesday in previous years: Free Horror Stories, My Favourite Halloween Treats, Halloween Picture Books, Halloween Things I’ve Never Done, Things I Love About Halloween, and LGBTQ+ Horror Novels, and The Best Ghost Stories I’ve Read.
I love this holiday! Happy (almost) Halloween to everyone who will also be celebrating it in a few days.
As I’m really not a big fan of blood or gore, most but certainly not all of the Halloween movies I watch are marketed to younger audiences. I love the fact that there’s such a wide range of options for this holiday. Not everything Halloween-related has to be terrifying, after all.
These were all great films. Some are better for teens and adults while others can be enjoyed by all ages. So much depends on the specific ages and interests of everyone involved.
1. The Nightmare Before Christmas
2. Hocus Pocus
3. A House With a Clock on Its Walls
4. Coco
5. It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown
6. Monsters, Inc.
7. Beetlejuice
8. Edward Scissorhands
9. The Sixth Sense
10. I Am Legend
11. The Others
12. Get Out
13. The Babadook
14. The Addams Family
15. The Witch
I’ve only seen The Addams Family from this list but do know that Hocus Pocus is one of the most beloved “classics.” I also am not a fan of creepy horror so I tend to watch the “funnier” or lighter spooky movies. 😉
I figured you’d say that. 🙂
I have a friend who spends the entire month of October quoting lines from HOCUS POCUS on facebook. I’d say I don’t know how one movie can have so many lines, but I could do the same with Big Lebowski, so there you go…
Oh, that’s too funny!
Great list! I’ve watched The Nightmare Before Christmas with my grandchildren so many times I could probably recite every line. LOL. Happy Tuesday and Happy Halloween!
Thank you, Stephanie. I love that film.
There are some great choices on this list. I love Hocus Pocus, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Monsters Inc, The Addams Family and Edward Scissorhands 🙂

Yay! Glad to hear it.
I’ve seen Beetlejuice and I was a fan of the Addams Family TV show. I really should try more films, I just prefer books!

I get that. 🙂
The Sixth Sense and Edward Scissorhands are two of my favorites! Fun list.
Thank you. 🙂
Really fun list! Non-gory doesn’t mean non-scary — some of these are very dark! But I love that you included sweet Halloween films as well as disturbing ones.
Yes, absolutely. And thank you.
As one who loves Halloween, but doesn’t like blood and gore, this list is very valuable to me. 🙂 I’ve seen most of these (some on your recommendation!) but I’ll add the others to my list. Thanks!
Awesome. Thanks for stopping by, Berthold. This has been a busy autumn, but I’ll try to return the favour soon.
Great list! This is exactly my type of Halloween movie. The Addams Family (maybe Values, even more so?) is a particular favourite.
Awesome.
I love most of these movies.
Very cool1
There are movies that I have seen. Nice picks and good idea. Here is my TTT. https://dmhoisington.wordpress.com/2025/10/28/top-ten-tuesday-7/
Cool. I believe I’ve already left a comment on your post this week. 🙂
I’m not much of a horror girlie but I *love* Nightmare Before Christmas, Coco and Monsters, Inc! 😍 I’m curious about Get Out cos I’ve heard so much about it but I’m still too scared to try, haha.
Get Out definitely had its scary moments, but the storytelling was so good.
These are all great picks! I also enjoy this holiday but dislike the blood and gore featured in most movies marketed for Halloween. Hocus Pocus is my kind of “scary” Halloween movie! And Nightmare Before Christmas is just wonderful overall.
Thank you. I’m glad you get it.
I remember being completely shocked by The Sixth Sense. I need to rewatch it to see how I missed all the clues!
I listed books I’ve read that involve Halloweenish creatures. Find it Here
How fun! I don’t think my comment on you post went through, but I tried. 🙂
I’ve watched several of these over the years. And enjoyed them time and again.

Thank you. I don’t think my comment on your post went through, but I did try.
I definitely also prefer non-gory Halloween movies, so this list is great! Hocus Pocus is one of my favorites to rewatch 🙂
Yay! Yeah, that one’s fun.
I love these types of movies. I’ve seen almost all of them on this list. Hope you have a great week!
Thank you!
An excellent list. I love Halloween, but struggle with scary stuff so this list is ideal for me. I tried to get my 7 and 2 year old to watch Halloweentown with me yesterday, but they weren’t interested 😂
Have a great week!
Aww, too bad. Maybe next year. 🙂
I am not a fan of traditional Halloween. I am a fan of “cute” Halloween! I never used to celebrate, until I had kids. They are both obsessed with Halloween, but all the cute things!
Adorable!
All such great movies! We usually watch most of these every Halloween! We’ve watched like 45 movies this month and all of them have been either Halloween or horror!
I hope you have a spooky week and a Happy Halloween! 🎃💀👻

Oh, that’s awesome!
Fun list of movies! I love both The Others and The Sixth Sense. One of my favorite Halloween-ish movies is The Burbs. Oh, and I do love the original Halloween. 😀
I really should watch The Burbs sometime.
I can’t handle horror. I have a low tolerance for scary. Lol The Great Pumpkin is a favorite of mine. I also recommend Dracula starring Bela Lugosi. It is a classic and there is no gore! Here is our Top Ten Tuesday. Thank you!
Cool. Thanks for sharing.
So many classics on this list! Hocus Pocus is one I remember watching so much as a kid.
The Others wasn’t gory, but it was definitely spooky and haunting! Loved it and The Sixth Sense! Charlie Brown is a classic I still enjoy watching as an adult.
I really quite liked The Addams Family movies and I also love Monsters Inc! Edward Scissorhands is great too.
